Whether you’re running a nonprofit finance department single-handedly or working with a team of CPAs, it’s important to stay informed and up-to-date on your accounting software. For us and for many of the nonprofit organizations we serve, this means QuickBooks Online.
Unfortunately, using QuickBooks Online isn’t always as straightforward as you would hope. When you run into tricky accounting questions, annoying technical issues, or you’re simply at a loss for where to start, these free internet resources have your back!
Step-by-step videos for navigating both the desktop and online versions of QuickBooks. They even have a section exclusively for nonprofit accounting!
The official QuickBooks blog provides a wealth of timely information on Intuit accounting software. This blog is primarily a source for QBO news and updates, but there are plenty of great tips sprinkled throughout.
@QBOCares regularly posts links to new tutorials and how-to articles, provides real-time response on technical issues, and offers frequent reminders and notifications about updates or scheduled maintenance. (Check here before scheduling a late-night work session - most system updates take place overnight, during which QBO is completely offline.)
This site is packed with tips, tutorials, and updates about QuickBooks Online. QBOChat also runs a live TweetChat every Thursday at 3pm ET/12pm PT. Use the hashtag #QBOchat to participate! For the uninitiated, TweetChats are “conversations around a designated topic or common interest with a group during a preset time. It’s like the modern version of chatrooms, except these conversations are done in a public forum like Twitter or, as in this instance, via a specialized website.”
This third-party blog by the Sleeter Group gets into the nitty-gritty of your accounting software with sections on QuickBooks (online and desktop), Xero, and Sage, in addition to general cloud accounting, tech trends, and business management. Keep an eye out for their monthly rundown of new QBO updates and how to use them.
