If you have trouble remembering which types of income are considered “revenue,” “support,” or something else - you’re not alone! Since nonprofit organizations often receive donations and contributions, their income structure is a little more complicated than most for-profit businesses.

While we recommend reading our more detailed explanation of different types of nonprofit income, we’ve also created this quick visual graphic to help jog your memory. To keep things simple, just remember: Revenue = an exchange transaction; Support = no exchange. And if it doesn’t seem to fit into either category, it might fall under “Other Changes.”
